August 2007: I sold SEA. Got pregnant with Princess B.
August 2010: SEA debuts. Obama promises to bring troops home from Iraq.
Something about August.

1. My pal Josh Berk is now on lj. Add him. You will not regret it. Today he posts about MC Hammer and makes one of the funniest jokes about braiding hair I’ve heard in awhile. Because you know, there is frothy competition for braiding hair jokes (!)
2. kimberleylittle has pictures up of shiny purple pumps and signing a THREE BOOK CONTRACT with Scholastic! When I met Kimberly in 2007 at SCBWI LA she had one book published and I believe it had come out, maybe 4 or 5 years before and nothing since. She was a tad frustrated but remained optimistic and kept writing. And voila! THREE BOOKS! Pudding proof that persistence and an awesome attitude can pay off. You go girllette!
3. I finished an ARC of my friend Sarah Rees Brennan’s debut novel The Demon’s Lexicon in maybe two sittings? It was one of those, “Hold on, let mommy finish this one paragraph…chapter…book” kind of rainy weekends.
You know those Hot Guys in YA Lit memes that are always floating around? Well, now y’all have some fresh supplies. Look for it June 2. It is teh awesome! (And you know me. Wimp, right? So now, I’m a demon fan. That’s how good it is!)
4. My child has usurped my yoga practice. She has cried in the childcare center and the longest-fingernails-I’ve-ever-witnessed-live provider had to come fetch me from my class. In mid-pose. As you can imagine, it was tragic. I need to rethink my entire life plan now. As far as I can see I have two choices a) to convince BB she loves childcare center or b) see a
5. I was having one of those neurotic writerly moments that we all know and love because I hadn’t heard back from Special Agent Sara about JADEyet. My thought process:
Just because she’s loved it thus far doesn’t mean she’ll like what I did with the finale, right? I did throw some unconventional curve-balls and oh no, they curved the wrong way and broke Special Agent’s beauteous nose! And it’s bloody! And it’s my fault!
I was convinced she LOATHED the ending. That I had botched up so badly it was beyond repair and she feared telling me because of my fragile tense state (see #4)
BUT THAT IS NOT THE CASE!
I *poked* her gently (because it’d been two weeks, and she told me she’d read after one, okay, I know, I’m a premature panicker) and she wrote back, “OH NOZ!! Someone sick! I have not read yet! I have printed and will read this weekend! I can’t wait!”
(She writes all in exclamation marks like that. That is why we get along so well.)
So…*phew*
Dodged a bullet. This time.
Well, until Monday when I start freaking out again.

Meet Nick. He’s waiting to rock your world. June 2.

If you don’t know sarahtales you should. She is one of the wittiest people around. Plus she already has buttons that her fans made her. Buttons! Buttons!
…or do planes seem to be crashing at an alarming rate?

I’m very happy I have no airplane trips planned. Oy.
Read all about my small role in Saundra’s awesome here: anywherebeyond!
And super congrats to Slumdog Millionaire. An absolute gem of a movie and triumph of the human spirit. I so enjoyed the Oscars last night. So much good. So much hope.
On both counts, once again I’m totally in awe of the way the Universe consistently surprises and amazes me when it gives back to the pure of heart.
Play for some Serious Chair Boogy

They were right. It’s addicting.
Now…The Tenners are on Twitter!
http://twitter.com/TheTenners
The best part is funny-guy Josh Berk is doing our tweeting for us.
If you know Josh from facebook or from his new lj (hint hint) or from his awesome PM dealio for his sure-to-be fab novel you know he is quite a funny dude.
So won’t you please be our twitterbug friend?
So my friend is recently back from SCBWI N.Y. and she heard these hilarious sound bites:
1. (From a very well-known agent) “The internets are a fad that will end soon.” (mwaaah, wtf?)
2. (From a well-known editor) “All writers should Twitter.”
Okay. I’m going to choose to ignore advice #1.
But advice 2?
I sent up a Twitter account awhile ago. I’m under seaheidi if anyone chooses to varify and/or add.
Before just now I’ve only Twittered once to say: “seaheidi is setting up a twitter account.”
Exciting huh? So obvs, I forgot my user name and password and had to reset.
Anyway, so many people are on there and I followed-back a whole slew of people who are following sad little me with her one-twitter-line. So I’m going to try and update there more and try and just figure out what the fuss is all about.
So are you with me or against me here people?
By the way, isn’t a twitter bug an old Sesame Street character?
Or am I thinking of her?

Follow me on Twitter Bug
EDITED TO ADD: I figured out the Twitter allure. Barack Obama is now following me on Twitter.

So, you can imagine I had fun.
Anyway, if you have time to read, it’s up!

I’ll give you a hint. He makes an appearance. *fans herself*
1. 5 Straight Days + Two Sick Kids + Non-Stop Rain=Makes Heidi a Dull Girl. (Not to be mistaken with the awesome debut novel Dull Boy written by SuperGirlsarahcrosscoming this summer…)
After a Valentine’s day filled with thermometers, sniffles and a trip to Urgent Care to check for ear infections for both kids–(all clear thankfully) I did managed to escape for an hour this morning to Yoga. I translated *oooohhmmmm* into “Thank god I got double hockey sticks out of dodge* Nothing says I need alone time like sicky widgets. Poor sweet-ums, indeed, indeed, but Oy! Five days?
2. I haven’t had time to check my flist in days (sigh) but Google Alert’s told me about this: New Top Tenner List: Best Books on Writing! Check it out: 10_ers today!
3. Speaking of 10_ers, I was interviewed as the Tenner creator/moderator! I felt all important like I invented the light bulb or something. She even let me blab about SEA. Will let you know when it is up!
4. Thank you carrie_ryan for taking the time to visit our community and speak to the Tenners about writing full time from home! What a great discussion. Youz a Superstah, lady!
5. Next week I’m having a **BOOK GIVEAWAY** of Saundra Mitchell’s amazing fantabulous SHADOWED SUMMER, which is in stores now! Be thinking of whether or not you believe in ghosts and why. Cuz the best comment will be the winnah! And I’m letting Super E choose the story! So think…six year old boys. =;
That’s all folks. Hope all’s well in your worlds!
