Congrats guys–your books look awesome.

I have to post about this. The Longstockings http://thelongstockings.blogspot.com/ covered it so well, but I must vent too. So I guess they are re-releasing the Sweet Valley High books again in all of their golden Wakefield glory…I was a huge fan back in sixth grade. I had the whole collection and can name the characters still. And since my sister and I still wore kids clothes, we had no idea what this meant…
Back in the 80′s the twin knock-outs were a “perfect size 6″ and it’s mentioned often in all the books.
Fast forward to 2008? They’ll be a “perfect size 4″
And they advertise this in their press release!
Do you guys talk about your female MC’s clothing sizes in your novels? I may give the reader an idea if they are thin or chubby or consider themselves thin or chubby or whatever, but bragging about their tiny size like it’s so ideal?? Pretty freaking lame, especially when our girls are so body conscious already. I expect this on TV and from models, but in books aimed at tweens and teens? I think it’s pretty irresponsible (as is the using the word “perfect” relating to clothing size).

(btw, NICE stash!)
My baby shower is this weekend and last night I had a dream that it was at a different friends house, in a different town and NOBODY CAME. I sat there waiting. Huge. Pregnant. 30 minutes, an hour, an hour and a half. (The clock actually advanced in my dream.) Finally, I was like, “What is going on here?” and the host suggested we take a walk. We go outside and are walking along a crooked, grass-poking-through-cracks sidewalk, when suddenly there’s a total eclipse of the sun and the sky turns ink black. Random miscellany ensues and THEN all the woman in town run up and show me positive pregnancy tests!! My younger sisters, my friend, my mother, and my GRANDMOTHER!
Dream interpretation anyone?
If you don’t want to get pregnant, don’t go outside during an eclipse?
ps. Don’t ever google image “pregnant grandmas” looking for a funny picture. Seriously. I warned you.
My sister and niece are driving down today–E’s so excited, his big girl cousin, yet another E and him have such a great time together, and it’s been awhile. They hard boiled the eggs, we’re getting the egg dye, and this afternoon we’ll whip up some funky egg art. My sis’ boyfriend is a gourmet chef (so I hear!) and he’s making dinner. Can’t complain about that!
Tomorrow we’ll do our traditional egg toss and squirt gun fight.
The meadow out back is full of mustard seed flowers and all the trees are in white perfumy bloom. For the last week, the tiny white petals have been falling off and falling like feathers…we call them snow blossoms. If I could find my camera, I’d post a pic, but alas…
Hope you all have magical springs!
looks just like this!
Hi all: I’m happy to announce the so-fun 2009 debut author group has unlocked a post! We’re discussing our writing processes and I confess my most embarrassing working title before I thought of SEA. Thankfully, my critique group saved me from my-oh-so-cheesy self. If you’re curious, and would like to feel better about yourselves and your working titles, it’s there in the comments!
Check out our Archives too, including “About Us” and “Who We Are” where are titles, synopsis, publishers and release dates are neat and tidy in a lovely little chart.
We obviously aren’t marketing our books yet, but we are chatting about the process of ‘getting there,’ which may be of interest to you. Please stop by! You can click on “watch this community” to get us live on your flist.

Have a great day, friends.

Can you find me in this picture?? Third row second in from the top.
You guys are SO sweet! It was so fun waking up to all these birthday greetings and notes!
I had to run out this morning so I couldn’t reply, but I’m having a great day. The sun is shining, my best friend took me to a great brunch, I’m wearing a pink flowery lacy maternity skirt so the kids didn’t call me the polar bear, I just bought some new flowery Birkenstocks (I swore after the hippie college days the Birks were gone forever, but desperate times… AND my husband’s taking the afternoon off so we can all watch E’s soccer class and go see Horton Hears a Who together! Who doesn’t want to hear a who on their birthday???
Anyway, you guys are the best. I love love love being a part of your world.
xoxoxo,
Heidi
(Who is now NOT in her early 30′s…)

And between slugs of green beer (because that’s what writers do ALL day long on St. Patty’s Day, right?) friend me on FACEBOOK.
Yes, I’ve finally made the plunge into yet another internet time sucker.

Luck of the Irish to you laddies! May you find your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and all that other four-leafed clovered good luck stuff. Oh, and don’t forget to wear green.
